She's a little trooper! Glad she's doing so well.
Did the vet mention anything about probiotics? These can really help when a ham has been through the stress of illness or surgery & on meds so that might be worth thinking about, it would help both digestion & general immune function.

I'm so happy Lexi made it through surgery. I've taken care of an hamster with a very large wound. I set his cage up, (1) level, lined the bottom with paper towels, and ripped up toilet paper and put it in his nest. I changed the paper towels each day, along with the toilet paper, due to the eound was very badly infected. Also, if your hamster is on preventive antibiotics for infection, my vet said to feed non fat yogurt 1/4 tsp after each dose of antibiotics.

Wishing Lexi a full recovery .. Xx

The vet didn't mention anything about probiotics and to be honest I know nothing about them! If you have any tips/food ideas to help her it would be greatly appreciated!

Her antibiotics are drops in her water which she is drinking plenty of. She still hasn't gone to the toilet but I am keeping a close eye on her and will call the vets if she doesn't go by this evening. They did a lovely job with her and she looks very neat. No chewing yet (thank goodness!) and she seems so much happier. Her wound is from her neck to her belly button so she is sore. They did suspect it to be cancerous so I think they did as much as they could to make sure they got everything and nothing else was growing.

I'm still just so over the moon to have her home and on the way to recovery x

Just like us they benefit from probiotics to help balance the bacteria in the gut in favour of the good bacteria (which can suffer from illness, stress & antibiotics) that they need to be healthy & digest their food properly, there are a few out there but probably the easiest to get hold of is this one, it does contain vit c as well so best just for short term use.
You can add it to water but I prefer to sprinkle a tiny pinch on food, it doesn't seem to put them off, I think they probably like it!

It must be a relief to see Lexi back home again and slowly getting back into her usual routine. I`m so pleased for both of you. x

So glad everything went well and bet you are over the moon to have Lexi home.

We use Pro C biotic, which we sprinkle over Neptune's porridge.

Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.x

Lexi has done nothing but sleep and eat over the past 2 days... and then today she seems almost back to the way she was! She is demanding attention and is enjoying her cage. She doesn't have much in there at the moment due to where and how big her wound is and we have managed to stop her bar climbing. My partner is very handy so I can thank him for his creativeness.

She seems to love all the soft shredded tissue and paper in her cage, she is very excited by it. She has a check up tomorrow and as far as I can see she hasn't pulled any stitches and she has stopped licking the area now. I feel so lucky to have her here still and I'm over the moon that she has gone back to her cheeky self.

Lexi thanks you all for the support! x
