Syrian Hamster suddenly has inflamed testicles

Sam is nearing 1 years old soon, and for the past couple nights his testicles has been more red and larger than usual. He is eating, drinking, peeing and pooping fine.

I have attached some photos to see a second opinion.

They appear much more red when he wakes up (thats also a very recent thing) but overall he seems to just be acting like normal Sam

I think the warmer the hamster, the redder the testicles. I think that they look larger too then as they're sort of trying to get them further away from their body to cool their testicles down. It's a long time since I had a male hamster to remember what is normal (well, I have a male robo but they don't, err, display them to the world so well

) but they don't look too red or angry to me. Do they feel harder? One of the more experienced owners of males will be able to tell you. I'm sure it's fine but if in doubt, pop him along to your local vet to be on the safe side. Oh, and welcome to HC

It does look as though he's just been getting a bit warm to me too, especially if they tend to be like that when he comes out of his nest, has the room he's in been any warmer than usual with the heating up lately?

They look quite normal to me. I had a surprise with our male hamster too and thought he had an abscess or something! When they are relaxed and warm their testicles descend and sort of pop out. We have a little fleecy round donut bed thing, and when Charlie started napping in that when out of the cage, his come down and pop out. I also think it happens more when they get more mature.

This doesn't show them very well but his look even bigger when descended!
