I managed to get a better look and cleaned it. No puss or anything but I did notice it is a big lump. I am ever so worried... do you know anyone that has had a hamster with a lump and what the treatment has been/outcome?

A lump could be all sorts of things, an abscess, cyst or tumour are the most likely things, sometimes these are easily treatable although not always but try not to worry too much (easier said than done I know) until the vet has had a look & take it from there.

The vet should be able to say what the lump is buttons and whether it`s a tumour or something else. But even if it is a type of tumour, it may be a slow growing one or benign. The vet may or may not know but feeling it can sometimes indicate if it`s fixed underlying tissue or floats around loosely. Fingers crossed you have a good consultation. Don`t be afraid to ask the vet questions. You know your hamster best. x

We have managed to get her in to the vets today. I'm working so my partner is taking her this evening. He is as hamster crazy as I am. I'll update when I know something. Thank you all so much for the advice and support. I think I have been worrying too much... but she is my baby after all!

That`s great. Hope you get good news but remember, even if the vet `thinks` it`s a tumour or some type or other, she can live with it for a good while, so don`t feel too bad if that`s the outcome. x

UPDATE:
Lexi is fine. The vet said due to her age growths are common. He thinks she must have knocked it and it caused a scab. No infection and I just need to keep an eye on her and make sure it stays clean. He did say she could have surgery but she could end up pulling her stitches out or it could grow back so we thought it was best to leave it alone. She isn't in any pain but if the wound gets sticky, doesn't heal or if the growth gets bigger than to go back. He said we have a lovely hamster and he was surprised how friendly she was! Very relieved. Now for a little treat. I'll have to make sure the boys get a little something to

Thank you all very much for the advice, support and love. I'm so happy to be part of this community! Lots of love to you all and your little ones x

Really pleased to hear Lexi had a good vet visit and placed your mind at ease. Enjoy her now and you just have to make sure her habitat it ease-of-use for her now with no pitfalls. x
