Roborovski disease???
Beans is a female Roborovski hamster, nearly a year old.
Recently she has been a lot more slow and squeaky. She tries to bite me as well. She's been looking a lot more plump than usual. The main problem is that she's constantly squeaking, and I don't know why. Maybe it's her breathing, or she's just scared. She often just sits in the middle of her cage during the day, sitting in the same place for sometimes up to an hour. She's eating and drinking normally. About four months ago her sister who lived in the same cage as her had to be put down, but she hadn't been showing signs of loneliness, but maybe that's what this is. It's not too cold or warm on the room that she's in, and her cage is very clean. I'm worried that she's in pain.
Any help and I would be very grateful, thank you!!!

Re: Roborovski disease???
The a lot more plump part of this post would be my concern as since you've had her alone for nearly a year she can't be pregnant so that leaves possible tumor or infection in her womb as possible cause for a lot more plump. Uncharacteristic behavior coming on suddenly after a year of being friendly tells me a Vet trip and exam is in order as they usually bite if in pain and you attempt to pick them up and cause them much pain. If it is a closed Pyo(Yes female Robos can also get Pyometra) then the infection is causing her much pain and why she is squeaking.
My suggestion is a Vet visit ASAP.

Im not an expert on hamsters but the most logical thing to do is go to a trusted vet who should know whats wrong.

Re: Roborovski disease???
This sounds quite similar to my robo Harriet who has just been put on antibiotics for a respiratory infection, which are very common in small animals. She was making squeaking and chirping noises for a few days and exercising less, and sitting in the corner of her cage, all of which the vet said is down to her not being able to breathe as easily. Definitely take her to see your vet, Harriet was given Baytril (originally in her water for almost four weeks which didn't work, and now a vet who is a specialist in small animals has given it to her in an oral solution administered via syringe so she gets the correct dosage). Good luck! X
