Default Drinking more and restless/full of energy

Ted who is 22 months has been drinking more for a while. Vet did not seem too worried. But hes been very restless and full of energy jumping all over the place. When i take him out at night he usually has wee snooze on my lap and has potter about. But hes jumping a lot and seems full of energy. He also changed his nest area over a week ago which is strange.

Hmmm, he`s obviously changed behaviour for some reason. Sometimes older hamsters can become excitable for some reason. I saw this with two of my robos who sadly, were only a few days away from passing. But one had a very bad skin condition and had seen the vet a week earlier and the other went much the same way, although he also had a spinning disorder too, poor love.

Keep a close eye on him and if he settles down again, that`s good. Sometimes they crave more attention though so I he wants out to be with you, try and be there for him. x

At 22 months it's highly likely that his kidney's aren't working as well as they would when he was younger, aside from drinking & peeing more than usual this can have some side effects which may cause slightly odd behaviour but not normally discomfort or pain so I would just keep an eye on him & let him do his own thing, there's not much you can do about it but it's probably not something you need worry about unless he shows any other more worrying signs.
