Loss of fur / Irritation
My robo hamster Harry is approx. 18 months old and I've just noticed tonight a section down the centre of his chest/tummy looks a little sore, pink, and maybe damp? He is cleaning himself a little excessively but eating, drinking and running around as usual. I hope this is just fur loss due to old age, as it is verry difficult to hold and assess him because of how fast and energetic he is. Any info / advice would be very appreciated.

Re: Loss of fur / Irritation
I don't know. But maybe it is the same as what Scarlet has? Check out my thread in the Hamster Healthcare section of the forum. Sorry, but I can't seem to post a link to the thread. The name of my thread is "IMPORTANT!!! Bald spot on Hammy's leg!!!". Try looking at that. There is lots of advice. I don't know, but does it look sore and does he flinch or something that shows it hurts when you touch the spot? Maybe you local vet(s) can give you a free or cheap consultation?
We can't really diagnose it from the picture. Especially a dark one like that. Can you try taking a better and brighter picture? Then we might get kind of an idea of what is going on. Has he been I acting normally?

Re: Loss of fur / Irritation
I just checked him under a nice bright light and his fur actually looks fine, maybe it was the lighting that made it look a little strange. Thank you anyways for the reply, I'll make sure to check your post just in case.

Re: Loss of fur / Irritation
It's hard to see from the photo but I'm guessing it could be his scent gland looking a bit damp, is he scratching or just grooming as normal?
It doesn't sound as though it's anything too serious but i would keep an eye on it to see if there are any changes that might need some attention.
