Default Wet tail help!

Hey everybody, I got a hamster about 2 weeks ago after my little Sophie died and he was displaying symptoms of wet tail (hes about 11 weeks old) i took him to the vets and theyve prescribed him with anti biotics and told me to make sure he is eating and drinking but he had hard poo stuck to his bottom and when cleaning himself he is in pain trying to remove it. Any tips on how i can clean it off without hurting or stressing him out too much.

Aww I'm not sure but one way is to moisten it enough to get it to come loose without pulling his fur but your little hammy might get slightly damp and it may take a bit off fiddling. It might stress him out but it sounds like its stressing him out having it on there too

Damp towel corner pressed on it while a dry treat is offered the other end to try and keep him busy.

Hi. I'm sorry I really can't help but I just wanted to say, hope your hammy is better soon.

Fingers crossed for a good recovery for your hammy. Yes you could try bathing his bottom maybe with a damp soft cloth dipped in tepid water - not too wet, just enough to soak it and soften it a bit at a time until it sort of softens and disintegrates - and pat dry gently with a dry corner. Wash your hands well before and after with antibacterial soap.

Maybe do a little bit each day rather than try too hard in one go and frazzle him. Glad he is seeming a bit better. Fingers crossed.
