Default Bumblefoot and hair loss?!

Hi,
For about 4 weeks my hamster has lost hair around her ears and I treated with mite spot on as the vet recommended. she has had a swollen paw but i thought it was just from excessive scratching. However, the paw is still slightly swollen and there is now hairloss at the top of her legs, also i noticed today that she a small red spot on her other paw. I do not use wood shaving or have any metal in the cage.
Please help!

I would take her back to the vet. The symptoms together may indicate a different course of treatment.

Hi hamsterlover. Bumblefoot is normally found on small animals that are housed on hard floors or wire. The bumbles are usally found under the back legs and look dark red/purple in colour. It`s caused by infection building up and can be very difficult to treat once formed. I would doubt your hamster has this and has possibly hurt her paw for it to have swelled up? Is she walking on all four legs without limping? Can she hold food in both paws?

Hair loss can be caused by many things. Allergy, mites, bodily changes, vitamin deficiency etc...

How old/young is she? And what spot on did you use on her? This is important as they can cause reactions if dosed too strongly. Ivermectin is a nerve agent but vets all use this. Xeno50 mini spot on has active Ivermectin in it, but the other over the counter stuff is pointless and is usually plant based pyrethrins. So I wouldn`t apply anything to your hamster just now unless a vet prescribes it. x
