Question Need help with Probiotics?

Got some Pro-C Probiotic for Cookie today to help him with his soft stool issue. It comes in a powder with a little scoop too. It says to add 1 scoop per 200ml of water and Cookie's bottle is 75ml. Or you can add 1 scoop per 300g of food.

So a few questions:

Would putting it in water or food be better?

How often do I use it?

Would very much appreciate answers right now, Thanks x

I tend to add it to water. If I can't work it out, the. I put 1 scoop in a measuring jug with 200ml tap water and then top up the bottle from that jug

Good idea!! So I'm guessing you put the scoop in the jug and refill the water everyday with the probiotic water? Will the water stay fresh? Thanks xx

Also I've noticed the Probiotics can be used for stressed hamsters. Well my robo has a neurological disorder I think and there is nothing we can do for him as he just spins. Could I use the probiotics for him? Would it maybe help?

Keep the probiotic water in the fridge to keep it fresh but even then I would be inclined to make up a fresh batch every few days.
You can give probiotics to all hams not just when they're sick so yes it would be fine to give some to your robo too. Not sure it would help, probiotics are advised for stressed hams mostly because stress tends to effect their digestive system but probiotics are also good for genearl health & the immune system so it will help keep your ham healthy even if it doesn't change any neurological problems & may help with any knock on problems from the stress that may cause him.

My parents said to not keep it in the fridge incase it 'contaminates' the food. Could I just put loads of ice cubes in it then store it in a cold room in the house? Lol And thanks for the advice on the probiotics with my robo

Sorry but I don't get that, tell your parents it's no different to putting a yogurt in the fridge!
I wouldn't put ice in it no.

I would mix the one scoop of power to the 200ml water and as suggested, keep the remainder in the fridge in a pouring jug to be used the next day or a few days afterwards. It won`t contaminate anything! Not sure why your parents would think that. It`s not raw chicken! Mix as required. One thing I would add though is watch that your hamsters are drinking it okay if they detect any taste, it could prevent them from drinking, so watch them closely for the first day or so and watch hem taking a drink/drinks. suspect it may taste like orange but I could be wrong. It might state this on the tub? Hopefully it won`t have a taste but if it does, they might like it. x

Put it in a clean plastic bottle with a lid (like a coke bottle or a milk jug) so it's easy to pour (not as easy as a jug, but still), stays fresh and can't possibly "contaminate" anything some people are weird about what goes in the fridge *shrug*
