Lump on face! :(

Hi everyone! I'm new here and am looking for some good knowledge or experience on the problem my wee hamster Chica has.
A week ago I noticed a slight swelling below her eye, I immediately took her to the vets, they prescribed antibiotics and anti inflammatory. This seemed to help a bit and swelling reduced slightly.
Three days later and the swelling has doubled in size. My vet says they suspect one of her back teeth is causing an abcess, so she's going in tomorrow to have the lump inspected and cleared. I'm worried though, as firstly I don't know how safe it is for her to be under anaesthetic/gas, secondly I'm scared that the abcess will return if the teeth at the back aren't good, the vet said it's nearly impossible to extract a back hamster tooth, is this true?
In general she's still fairly healthy, eating and exercising.
I'm scared, as she's only a year old and I don't won't to lose her!

I'm sorry your ham is poorly. But if the antibiotics aren't working then Chica is going to start being in pain, if it's an abscess. I'm sure if your vet was worried about the anaesthetic (if your ham was older for example) he wouldn't go ahead. I know there always risks but I think it's important to always try and improve your pets quality of life if trying to do so doesn't make them suffer more. I hope everything works out okay.
