Default New random squeaking?

Hi! I have a nearly two year old Syrian male called Bear, and I'm looking for some advice... I've had about 6 Syrians over the years but Bear the past couple of nights when I've had him out has been randomly 'squeaking' it can happen when he's just running along or sometimes when I pick him up, then other times he is fine. I'm just confused - is this a sign he is in pain? He's a very laid back hamster and has never made noises before. He's eating and drinking fine however I have noticed his weeing has increased... I'm just wondering what a vet would be able to do for him and what the random squeak could be? I've checked him over and there are no obvious signs he's hurt himself or lumps etc.
Any advice is greatly welcome thanks

Hi Becs, welcome to the forum.
It does sound a bit odd, some hams are very vocal but a sudden change like this does sound as though something could be wrong.
Does anything seem to be bothering him when he squeaks like that, are his ears up or down? If his ears go down it could be a sign of distress.
He is getting quite old now so will be a bit more prone to health problems, if he's peeing more he could have a urinary infection or something going on with his kidneys so I'd keep a careful eye on that & try to monitor his drinking to see if there's much of an increase.
It's really hard to say what else could be going on but if you are concerned it wouldn't hurt to have a vet check him over, hopefully it's nothing to serious to worry about.

I've noticed a couple of times he's arched his back after he's squeaked but generally he's running about and eating / drinking fine. I must admit the past few months I've noticed he has been weeing a lot but I wouldn't have said he's been drinking excessively from what I've noticed. I went in to check on him just now and he walked across his cage squeaking and its still happening when I pick him up so I'm going to get him to the vets tomorrow. Maybe some anti b's incase there is an infection will be worth trying. His squeaking seemed to have disappeared for a few days so I thought great! I just don't want him to be suffering as realise he is older now and the inevitable will happen. Thank you for the reply

Hi Becs - how did Bear get on at the vet's, if you were able to get him there yet?
