Most will normally eat porridge made with just water but as they only have a tiny bit green milk would be fine, I use lactofree milk if mine have any but really you don't need to worry.

The fitch on amazon is the same stuff sold by the same people just through amazon, that is a really small bag though.

I usually feed it at about room temperature, warm is fine just not hot.

I understand you wanting to try a smaller bag of fitch first, I did too but went for 10kg! I think that bag is only about 1kg which won't go far at all. I can't see your ham having any problems or not liking it tbh.

Is it possible for you to see a vet (ideally today) and ask them to demonstrate exactly how much you need to draw into the syringe? Or to get them to explain it to you over the phone?

There are arguments both ways about if you've been giving the correct dose or not and your vet is the only person who can reassure you and definetly get things correct.
If you've been drawing the medication up to the correct marks on the syringe then I suspect you've been giving the medication correctly (I always find a bit stays in the nozzle of the syringe after I've pushed the plunger as far in as it will go) and I know thats what my vet advises me to do when my own pets need medication. Unfortunately thats my vet, not yours and I cannot guarantee that every vet would say the same. Advice on this forum cannot substitute for a vet so if you have any doubts about giving your hamster the correct dose I would strongly advise you to discuss them with your vet to be on the safe side.

Just to add that a 1ml syringe is the easiest to measure from. These are thin syringes, so draw up the liquid (usually more than you need) and press down gently to release any overspill back into the bottle until you see the marker your supposed to be at. This should then give you what you need to be dosing, but as kyrill suggested, if your stuck, ask the vet. They won`t mind you calling them and if the vet is busy, they will call you back. x

Hi

i just want to get this straight, my dad and i had a full blown argument about this.

OK, i put the measurement to 0.05, but obviously there is some in the nozzle, when i bring it back down, it counts as 0.1.

DOES the nozzle count? or should it be 0.05 when pulled back down?

If the nozzle counts or not depends entirely on if the vet intended it to. Can you ring the vet and ask them?

We can give our opinions but theres no guarantee we're any more right or wrong than you or your father unfortunately.

I will ring them tomorrow morning if i can before the next dose, they didnt say anything about the nozzle, the lady at the desk just told me what mark to put it to

In your opinion, does the nozzle count? this is getting really confusing and is stressing me out.
