Winston limping! :(
Could anyone help me?
My Syrian Hamster has been limping on one of his front legs. I've got an appointment at the vets for tomorrow morning, but until then I can't decide what to do about his wheel. Last night I took it out to stop him putting strain on his leg, but then he got super distressed trying to get out of the cage, which seemed to put just as much strain on the leg. I really don't know what to do and would appreciate any advice.
Thanks.

Hi What kind of wheel is it? Does the cage have bars? How old is he? Is he putting any weight on the leg at all?

Re: Winston limping! :(
Depending on the size of the cage, transfer him into a smaller cage (about 30cm x 50cm) so there's less room to run around in. Keep him in it until you see the vet. Try interact with him as much as possible to distract him from trying to get out of the cage. I hope everything will okay.

Re: Winston limping! :(
I would keep his wheel out until his leg gets better. I had to do this with Twinkle.
How did he get on at the vet?

Re: Winston limping! :(
Thanks so much for replying guys. I took him to the vet on Saturday and she said it's not broken, she thinks the pain is around his elbow. She gave me medicine for him that will reduce inflammation and manage the pain, which he has through a syringe in his mouth... poor thing. He did well with it though. Sadly I had to move to university on Sunday (really bad timing) so my parents have been looking after him. I haven't spoken to them properly yet, but they messaged me to say he was taking it fine and doing okay
