Default Wet poo and spiders and also tube nesting

So my long haired Syrian Nubbins, I got him from petsmart like a while back, sometime at the beginning of the year I believe.

So I just was putting him in the ball and had my little brother watch him, few minutes later I go over to start rearranging some tubes and I notice there's wet poo by the door, and in two of the tubes. So you know I clean everything out, check his bed for any major issues.

[He sleeps and nests in a round purple tube, I don't know why but I can't get him out of the habit. He does usually have some poo in there but it's just small pellets that I get when I clean it out every now in then. I try not to do it too often though because he also stores food and bedding in there and I don't want to mess with his things too much. Please tell me if this is something I should be concerned about too.]

His bed was fine, just normal amount of like normal poo and so I cleaned out the tubes where I saw it. There was none in his ball that I left him in for twenty minutes but I just want to know what happened because it was like smears and this has never happened before. I have not given him anything special to eat or none of that.

Also another concern I have is that currently his cages are all on the floor because of certain housing issues I'm having, I just moved and I don't have my own room yet so he's in the living room in the corner. My brother said he spotted a small spider in his tube while cleaning them but didn't tell me if it was alive or dead or even let me see before he flushed it. Should I do something about this or does he know how to kill spiders if they come towards him?

I wouldn't worry about a small spider, depending on where you live & what kind of spiders you have, most small spiders would probably get eaten.
Their poo can be changeable due to diet, stress etc so just keep an eye on that, if you continue to find wet poo then you may need to change diet or see a vet but if it's just a one off it may be nothing to worry about.
I'd be more concerned about the tubes, I know they love them but it gets really unhealthy in them if they choose to sleep, eat, pee, poo & store food in there, even sleeping isn't good as tubes aren't well ventilated. It also means you have to clean way to often which is disturbing for them.
I always think it best to just get rid of tubes once & for all, it will stress your ham out a bit but given a nice house to sleep in (even a cardboard box with some holes & no base) & maybe a few cardboard tubes to play in he'll soon get over it & make himself a new nest.

He may have stepped on some poo before it hardened but of course keep an eye on it. I'm with cypher about the tube though-- what kind is it? They often do like to camp in them being burrowers naturally but it isn't healthy in the artificial environment. What cage do you have? If you can provide deep substrate and a bottomless house he should be happy and you can remove the tube.
Oh and mmm spider snack lol. Hamsters eat bugs. Hopefully you don't have any dangerous ones around.

The tube is the purple round tube on this set up: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...ZL._SY355_.jpg He's always stayed in there, even though I've bought him and igloo, a little wooden house, and another bigger, better ventilated round thing that is almost just like it. [It's really an old wheel that wouldn't spin anymore and I put it in his cage.[ Also I have a small critter tail cage that I purchased believing it would be much bigger, but connected to it through tubes is a larger bin cage where I keep lots of his things. I'm just scared to remove the tube because all of his stuff is in there and I don't want him to be upset with me.

Thank you Cypher, I can't remove all of the tubes because that's how I connect his different cages, but I guess I'll be taking out the specific tube and trying to get him into the igloo. It's bottomless and I recently put lots of bedding under it so maybe he'd like it and want to burrow but he never does.

Thank you for the advice on his poo and the spiders though, I appreciate it.

To be totally honest I don't think that tube looks like a healthy place to sleep at all, even more so if you get food & pee in there.
It will upset him if you remove it but long term you'll be doing him a favour, he probably won't use any other part of the cage or another house so long as you leave the tube there but he will adapt if you remove it. It can take them anything up to a couple of weeks sometimes, often a lot less, to really get used to a new set up but given a little time & just left to get on with it they do sort it out for themselves.

ETA Cross post there I think!

The thing with those kind of tubes is they tend to hold onto the smell. The tubes can sometimes end up getting blocked by the hamster itself cutting him off and making it harder for you to reach him.
The cardboard tubes are a better option.
