Default R.I.P Pipin <3

Yesterday, my beautiful boy Pipin died. I really want to know how he passed. He was fine in the day, he was running on my bed and cuddling with me (as usual) but in the night I found him sleeping, but he was breathing heavily.so I picked him up and he was so cold, barely moving. I wrapped him up warm, gave him some water and before I knew it he took his last breathe. I was heart broken, I couldn't stop crying thinking it was all my fault. Exactly a month ago his baby Girl Pebbles died, I kind of understand how she died, but him, He didn't show any signs like she did. On her last few days she was terrible, weak, tired, definitely not herself but he was full of life just hours before. :'(
He shared a cage with his son Pipsqueak. (before anyone comments about breeding it was a mistake I bought them both together, being told they were girls, and before I knew it there were Babies! they all went to amazing home and they couldn't be happier, but with two left. One little girl and on little boy I put them with their parents. Also Pipin and Pipsqueak got along just fine.)

Anyways I noticed he was lost weight, But he was eating.
He didn't maintain his fur either. Not like the other two.(He also seemed to have dandruff but he had that since I had him)
He was a russian dwarf, I had him for 5 months. but i'm not sure exactly old he was becuase I bought him from a pet store as There isn't any hamster rescue places were I live
His back was also arched the last month, but It didn't seem to bother him. He wasn't constipated. And I couldn't take him to the vets where I live because they won't do anything for hamsters besides put them down!
the only other thing was the last few days of having him he started dragged his legs. And he was staying up all day and sleeping in the nights! He would got to sleep about 6-7 ish and wake up in the morning and be awake all day!
And the night he died he really did look like skin and bones, but early that day i saw him eating.

Hi Ellie,
So sorry to hear about your hamster Pippin.
This is what happened to Archie, he was fine the night before, and in the morning he was lying in his cage breathing fast and heavy and cold, I stayed with him comforting and stroking him and within an hour he passed away. This happens a lot, one minute they're fine and suddenly they deteriate quickly. I wish I could tell you why it happens.

Sorry for your loss <3
I cant help but blame myself. I think it was due to bad Genes since I bought him from a pet shop. I hate not knowing why he passed

Please don't blame yourself, I got Archie from my local petshop (I've gotten all my hamsters from a petshop).
How old was Pippin? Archie was 2 years & 3 months.
It's hard not knowing why but, please remember that you gave Pippin a happy and loving life.

He wasn't that old, I had him for 5 months but i'm not sure exactly how old he was. He definitely was older than 1. I still think he had bad Genes, I bought my Little girl pebbles from the pet and shes doing just fine. Thank you for the kind words.
