sad times
Hi guys so this morning i checked on pumpkin but she just seemed slow and sleepy like normal so i checked again before i left to go out and she was not moving so i opened her house lid to lift her out and she sqwarked everytime i picked her up and she just lay there. I am so upset. my mom said she is cold and we put her back in her cage and left her whilst we have gone out. I havent been home yet and probably wont be till 3.00 pm. I didnt want her to be put down as she was just lying there and so i came on here to see uf im doing anything wrong but if she has not passed on when we come home i might consider taking her to the vets

Re: sad times
It`s rotten when this happens pumpkin but leaving her to rest is the best thing right now. When you get home, if she`s still in her nest, I would just try and watch for a while and see if she rallies herself rather than go straight in and disturb her. Sometimes they can feel something and want to be left alone to sleep. But if she`s awake or she`s lying in the open and her body is cold, I`m afraid this can be a sign that she`s very ill and possibly passing. If this is how you find her, try and just place a small fleece or small cover over her and let her be.
If she`s in her nest but you see movement of hear nibbling, I would leave her be and see how she is later on. Keep us updated. x

Re: sad times
Really sorry to hear this pumpkin, leaving her to rest for now may well be the best thing, see how she is when you get home, it's hard to know sometimes whether it's best to just leave them or take them to the vet, if she's just lying quietly & still cold then it may be best to leave her that way & just make sure she has lots of nesting material in there to keep her comfortable. If she's showing more signs of life or squeaking, showing signs of pain then it may be best to take her to the vet.

Re: sad times
Thanx guys for the support as i was not sure i was doing the best thing for her! I am not home yet but i will keep you updated! She was just lying there breathing normally but apparently she was cold and she only made noises that i have never heard before when i picked her up. I also feel im being selfish as i left her in her cage whilst we went out and did shopping and had lunch!

Re: sad times
Ah, right. She`s getting on then. What is her behaviour, is she looking very ill or do you think she`s tired and just needs to be kept cosy and hydrated? Or are you feeling more that she`s looking thin, weary and her breathing is not normal? x
