Re: Yellow/White goo?
If it doesn't smell absolutely horrible then it might just be discharge if she's in heat, you can find out if a syrian is in heat by stroking her back and if she stands still with her tail up she's in heat.
I'm not really sure about it though as most discharges I had from female syrians I kept was pyo, if no one can answer you for sure and you're really worried then a vet is the best option. Hope she's okay

Re: Yellow/White goo?
I'm pretty sure Butts had pyo now I know more about it, the smell was really distinctive and strong and the discharge was a medium yellow rather than the pale colour I see in that photo. I say "pretty sure" because the vet said it was internal tumors because of her abdominal swelling and recommended we put her to sleep so I'll never really know.
Is she lethargic at all? Eating and drinking normally?

Re: Yellow/White goo?
Check the discharge in 24 hours. If it is still yellowish and thin like the photo it could be open Pyo. However if it changes to a more solid and capacious yellow white glob then she was just in heat. Stroking her back may NOT result in her assuming the tail up freeze of a female in heat as I have had many who will only freeze with a male present. Also as to the odor if she is or carries for the Cinnamon gene she has good potential to stink like nothing else and NOT be Pyo I call it Cinny Stink, and it wreaks, often stinking up the whole room they are housed in. If the discharge stays the same a Vet visit is a must Though it may not mean Pyo as it could also be a vaginal infection or even a bladder infection as both will cause this type discharge and smell. Quick actions can help cure any infections quickly with Antibiotics so try not to guess what it is and please, please don't assume the worst and make yourself all upset.

Re: Yellow/White goo?
Guys, I went to go check on Oreo as she woke up and I found this in her cage where her food bowl is because sometimes she accidentally pees by her food.
I am feeling very concerned because Snow had this but clear white and I think Snow died soon after.

Re: Yellow/White goo?
I know it's gross but I would give it a sniff, does it smell like pee? Can you pick her up and check if she still has fluid around her vent? If this is the second day and she's the same then it's less likely to be her just in heat. Might be time to see a vet and ASK if they know the symptoms of pyo and how to treat it. It's going to be antibiotics but you need to know that the vet knows what they're about.

Re: Yellow/White goo?
Do you have food kibbles with yellow dye on them? I know they will often pee and even have poos the color of the kibbles in their food. The pet store I frequent often has bright green and bright blue poos in the tank because they feed Kay Tee and they use Green and Blue dyes on their kibble to please the human eye.
How is Oreo acting in general? If she is acting completely normal still eating and drinking normal amounts then I would say it isn't life threatening. However if her behavior and appetite have changed even slightly get her to a Vets ASAP

Re: Yellow/White goo?
No she doesn't have and dye food.
Maybe she is just in heat, she does smell a little and she is acting like her normal character so maybe its not anything to worry about. She probably is just having a heavy flow lol!
