Strange noise
My Russian dwarf is a month short of two years old and today She is making some noises I have never heard before, almost like a cross between a squeak and a sneeze. I'm worried something is wrong, any advice?

Re: Strange noise
I didn't notice her breathing to be any different but I will check when she is next awake. She is eating well and as active as she usually is. She does seem to be grooming/ scratching herself a lot, but I can't tell if this is more than usual or if I'm just noticing it more now that something else is wrong. She makes the noise when awake, both when still and moving around, but she doesn't make it whilst sleeping. Thank you.

Re: Strange noise
If her behaviour is normal it may be just a new thing. It's a good age though to start squeaking, some Hams start to talk when they grow up, and can start suddenly. Because of her age though I might consider she has some pain-- but you need to assess if you think that's a possibility, you know her best.

Re: Strange noise
I wish Charlie would talk lol. Another member's hamster Jocardi does a lot of talking and squeaking! Charlie did make a kind of noise once that sounded like a tttccch - when he was cross with me about something - sounded like he was telling me off lol.

Re: Strange noise
By itself it could mean anything, Cc makes a squeaky, sneezy little "chuff" noise when she's frustrated that sounds like it could be similar but she's always done that. Maybe start taking note of what exactly she's doing when she makes this noise, is she stretching or turning or putting her weight on one foot. If there's no connection there then you can rule out her being stiff or sore in some way.
