Oh Lemon I'm sorry to hear that you and Hedvig are going through this! I think you're absolutely making the right decision, an ultrasound could be super stressful for her and potentially reveal nothing. I hope she pulls through xx
Well, I will be keeping my fingers crossed that the prolapse is a one time thing. If it isn't, you've made a plan that will make sure that she doesn't suffer. Hedvig shouldn't have to end her life in pain when you can prevent it. {hugs} for you. {Gentle hammy pets} for Hevig.
Almost a month has passed now and Hedvig still hasn't had another rectal prolapse! I'm writing this so that if someone else has the same experience later, they will know that it doesn't necessarily mean the end. I'm so very glad I decided to wait. There was a time when I was almost certain I would have to put my little girl to sleep, but seeing her still healthy and happy now makes me absolutely sure that I made the right decision. Thank you all so much for you advice and support, I can't even begin to express how grateful I am. Hamster cental is truly a great community for all hamster owners.
That's really good news, I hope Hedvig stays well now & it was just a one off.
