Re: help
Really hope she`s okay. The recipe I gave only consists of things that a hamster would normally eat and enjoy, but you can also add a pinch of dry porridge oats or a very small piece of dry banana if you have any in your hamster food. These all add to the flavour. x

I'll keep that in mind, the thing is i wouldn't want to stress her anymore, but if she does get any worse I suppose I'll have to

Re: help
I'd personally go for seeing a vet sooner rather than later if you can, thats really not normal behaviour and if you've got a vet who's good with rodents theres always a real chance they can help sort the problem. I'd be quite concerned if the ham has been like this all day now.
We've never been sent away with antibiotics without good reason at our vets, doesn't matter who we see there, every vet tries to give us a rough idea whats going on and none of them seems to just throw meds at the problem and hope it goes away

Re: help
I'd take her for a vet check. If she hasn't moved in 24 hours, I'd be very concerned- with her having her eyes closed, and possibly not drinking or eating, are signs of her not feeling well.

Re: help
If she hasn`t moved for 24 hours and isn`t eating, a vet could probably do very little except check the hamster over or give Baytril and administering this would have to be done orally using a syringe as she isn`t eating. Unless they can actually diagnose what is wrong, like heart failure, that`s what would probably happen.
How is she today Hamsters4eva? Any change? x

Re: help
Could it be the bedding your using? I've heard of hamsters being allergic to their bedding. Have you switched it recently? But she'd be moving around still if this was the case. Check her nose if you're willing to hold her. Might have a tiny piece of something up there. I'd try to quarantine her, but move the the other hamster in the new cage instead of her as this will probably cause even more stress.
Best wishes for your baby xoxo

Re: help
for everyone who is asking, she seems to be struggling to move around, she has moved from either sides of the cage but she stumbles as she walks, I have given her more food soaked in water which she has seemed to lick, I also brought her water bottle infront of her coax her into drinking and she did.
she has definitely gotten worse since yesterday as she is now lying on her side (eyes closed) yet still awake, I just checked on her and her sister was sitting next to her, would you advise splitting them? I heard a few squeaks last night but they are fine now.
I doubt my parents would allow me to take her to a vet given the circumstances, a car journey would stress her out even more and as the closest vets (who treats small animals) is quite a while away I'd be worried it would stress her out, I'll do the best I can, but its my parents decision.
@ nickoh, the substrate is half care fresh half dust extracted wood shavings, I can attempt to pick her up but I don't really want to disturb her
thanks to everyone who has helped x
