Default I think Banjo hurt her leg :(

I think Banjo may have hurt her back leg. It doesn't seem too bad, she can still stand up and move around, but she has kind of a limp going on and it seems like she's dragging the leg a bit. And she's drinking a lot of water, but I don't know if it's because she doesn't feel well or if its just because we're having a heat wave right now. Last night when I was holding her she was biting me sparaticlly and now I think it might be because her leg was pained.

I've taken out all the things she can climb on for now to give her leg a rest, but I don't know if there's anything else I could be doing for her.

Everything else seems fine, her appetite is normal and and she's still bright eyed and perky, just a little labored on that back leg.

Any advice please?

Hi. Sorry to hear your hamster isn`t using her leg normally and it could be due to injury if she was okay before. Muscle sprains can also be a cause, but actually dragging a leg could potentially be a break. If she`s biting when being handled when she doesn`t normally, it could be a reaction to feeling pain, so yes, keep a very close eye on her. If she`s no better in 24 hours or worse, I would see a vet for confirmation and reassurance. Let her rest and keep water and food nearby and low to the floor, especially the water bottle. Keep the room airy if your weather is very warm. x

Poor Banjo, there's nothing worse than when our little furries hurt themself. Her biting you says she's in pain and I would make an appointment with the vet who'll be able to tell you if it's a sprain or broken. Will also be able to prescribe medication to help.
