Help urgent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
SO I went out to today and got back to the news that a dog had got in my room and got my baby girl and her babies !!
it happened around 9.30 am apparently ,, one has already been euthanized and betsy has been caught I think but I just got her up to check her injuries and she wobbled as she got up for a few seconds and then she walked fine but was unsteady which to me sounds like a stroke , but her eye has also been caught not cut I don't hink out it has had some sort of trauma to it althought they cant see well anyway that is the least of my concerns for her health she is just sleeping got up had a drink and potter around and back in I think she is a little bit of shock from her babies being attacked whilst with her
and one baby is hobbling around but with a limp and a lump just abouve her hip area but seems fine in herself generally .
and a black girl is also completely fine im just so worried betsy is my baby
and I never let let dogs in my room
please help im normally ok if someones hurt or ill but this is next level

don't panic. give her a few days for she is clearly in shock. i think the lump on the hobbling baby is a bit of swelling but it could be infection if she is cut. I'd let Betsy sleep it all off. maybe comfort her and make her feel like everything is okay. if she doesn't recover after about 3 days, i'd take her to a vet. Poor you! it must have been HORRID!!

bless the little black girl is just not settling without her siblings she is everywhere I don't really want to take her away from mum as I guess that will just stress her more but she isn't settling at all

You said back in December that you would not be breeding Betsy due to advice given at that time?
I would advise seeing a vet with all of them and having them checked over for injuries and shock. Till them keep them warm and hydrated and get them checked very soon. Ensure that no dogs have access that could lead to further shock.

Re: Help urgent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Poor you, I know how you feel as I just lost one of my very much liked males here when he managed to get his tank lid slightly off enough to escape the tank and my cat got him before my Husband knew what was going on. It gives you a sick feeling and all you can do is keep the surviving Hamsters warm and secluded in a darkened cage and pray they will recover. Offer them plenty of food and water but check them from a distance until you see signs of improvement. If they take a turn for the worse take them to the Vet stat no delays. Often they get internal damage which as seclusive a Hamster is you may not see a bigger issue until it is too late to save them.
Did your Vet give any suggestions to help the survivors to calm down? I pray you don't lose any more and you'll also need to find a better way to keep that dog out now they have tasted Hamsters.

Re: Help urgent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
How did a dog jump a gate and end up inside your house? Do you leave a door open or what?
The main thing now is to allow them time to settle again and see a vet if any real injuries have occurred, or the hamsters are just `not right`. Such a horrid thing to happen but it`s happened. I`m always saying to people to keep their hamsters in a locked room away from cats, dogs and other larger animals who often manage to kill hamsters and other small pets just through sheer determination or oversight. It`s really not justified.
Really hope your remaining hamsters recover. x
