Advice...
Hi guys, I found this in my hamsters toilet today ( there was sand in there) any ideas? I have checked her over and seems physically fine, still eating and drinking. Also she has a bit of a funny smell, I don't know how to explain it but it's not her usual "in heat" smell.
She also isn't really interested in coming out of her cage like normal but active when in there.

Re: Advice...
Another odd things she has started doing is constantly playing with her water bottle and getting her underside wet, may be related, maybe I just have a strange hamster :/

Re: Advice...
oh my, that does look... icky... What's the green stuff in the top corner?
From the photo, to me it looks like the whole thing is filled with water and sand. maybe she needs a deeper dish for her toilet.
Does your hamster eat a lot of raw or watery vegetables? that could cause diarrhea.
Has she been stressed? Does her nest have wet patches that look like diarrhea? , is her bottom stained ?
If you think she may have diarrhea she should see a vet as soon as possible. You can get Wet Tail drops if you're certain she's got diarrhea. They are sold at pet stores here in the US, they may be sold in the UK as well. I've only ever had 3 hamster, and none of them ever had diarrhea, so I'm not sure if the pet store drops are enough, or if she would have to get an antibiotic from a vet.
You might need to put her water bottle up higher if she can get her belly all wet with it,
it's not good for a hamster to get wet, they can become ill.

Re: Advice...
It's really hard to say what it is from the picture.
I would agree with braingirl that, if it's diaarhoea then it would be wise to make an appt with the vet.

Has she got anything green, like cardboard she might have been chewing & then put in there?
If that's poo rather than pellets from food then they look quite normal which doesn't suggest diarrhoea but I can't really tell.
I would think about everything Candra said, can't think of much else to add to that.

Re: Advice...
The blue I think is some of her bedding that's maybe got in there (twisty nest) I'm mostly worried about how much liquid was in there in a day, I clean her potty most days so it doesn't build up. Maybe I'm over reacting, I just freaked out when I saw that

Re: Advice...
It looks to me as though she`s had a good long pee in there. If she`s fine otherwise I would just clean it out with hot water and re-fill. Wait to see if things go back to normal. The is no blood in it so that`s good. x
