I've had many many hamsters and this is the first one I've had with this issue.
He's an 8 month old male.
I noticed a while ago his right hind foot was swollen and red and almost looked like there may be a bit of a wound on it. I ended up pulling off a scab and there was pus/blood looking material in it. I thought maybe it was from him running on his wheel too much so I took the wheel out. That healed up and I thought all was fine but then he got an abscess on the right side of his face just behind his nose. As that was healing his right front foot got swollen and sore looking. It also had liquid of some sort in it. That healed up and now his right hind foot is swollen again. The vet at work wasn't quite sure what the issue could be so I'm trying here.
Anyone seen this in a hamster? It almost seems to be recurring infections?
You need to get antibiotics to clear this up, this will keep recurring if not treated. This vet at work you saw, ask him for a prescription. Does he have much experience with hamsters?
