He's a handsome hammie and I love the name Hamlet.
So glad you took him to the vet and that it went well.
I think his health will improve even more now he's in your safe, caring and loving hands.
Love the pics!

Just thought I'd give you an update - Hamlet is doing so well and I am so pleased with how far he has come in just one week. He's gained weight and fleshed out and the condition of his spine has improved massively, so I think the humped appearance may have been caused by malnutrition. His coat is glossy and his eyes are bright so I'm utterly delighted with his progress. His balance is still sometimes not wonderful particularly when he stands on his back legs but has markedly improved since last week.
I do have significant concerns still about him not being keen to eat nuggets as there is always nearly a full dish remaining and when I try scatter feeding it seems to end up in his hoard (which was big when I checked). The next thing I am trying is to try to mix a little baby food with some oats to get him a bit more used to solid food. Eventually I will grind some nuggets and do the same. I hope he will learn that he must eat at least a few nuggets!

My other hamster Melvin is pigging out on nuggets as I type so they can't be all bad

Wonderful! It does seem odd he appears reluctant to eat however since he is gaining weight you must be doing something right.

This is great news about Hamlet's progress, boy he's really come on leaps and bounds.
He will love baby food!
Hamlet's a little fighter! What a sweetheart!

Maybe because he's getting supplements he thinks the nuggets are not quite as "awesome" and is holding out for more of the other things? Either that or until his body is fully up to snuff he just doesn't need as much food and is eating the good stuff first. So glad to hear he's doing so well though!

Any hammie would eat the good stuff first! A bit like us humans!
Hamlet's one clever hammie, the nuggets will still taste the same (awful), but these other supplements have awesome smell and taste!
