I'm concerned about...
I'm abit concerned about Jinx and Patch. I'll start with Jinx.
I checked Jinx's teeth today as i just thought he looked skinnier than usual (i dont have scales atm so basing of appearance) and i discovered he doesnt appear to have his top teeth. I'm not sure if his bottom teeth are too long either but with help from my brother i managed to get a pic, hopefully you can tell me whether they're too long and need clipping? I know there was a thread recently about this topic so i'm fairly certain i can tend to his needs only the thread didnt say what kind of water to add to the food (i.e boiled, cold, ect) so i'd be greatful if anyone could clarify and i'm sorry if thats a stupid question. Also can anyone reccomend some baby food (prefferably powder but not too fussed) )?
Next is Patch. He's roughly 1yr and 4 months old. I noticed a little blad spot/thinnirr fur on his back and it looks like he may be losing a bit of fur around his scent gland on his left hip. What nutrients/things will help the fur grow back? I've googled but none of the answers were really clear so thought id ask here. I have a picture of Patchs back that shows the fur loss/thinness.

Re: I'm concerned about...
Those teeth do look like they could be a bit long but it might just be the angle of the picture. We use boiled water with the food but then it does need to cool before it goes anywhere near the hamster.
We use cow and gate porridge type babyfoods for Boo and we do get the powder version
Not too sure on nutrients to regrow fur, I know linseed and brewers yeast are good for fur condition but I'm not sure they'd help with regrowing it.

Re: I'm concerned about...
Thank you so much. Do you just leave the mushed up food in the cage and replace after a couple hours?

Re: I'm concerned about...
Does it matter if the baby food has orange in? I bought a fruity porridge and didn't see it had orange in (i really needed toilet at the time so was rushing a bit)

Re: I'm concerned about...
I believe citrus is not good for hammies SD. I wouldn't give it as it is on the "avoid" list on the WIKI Safe & Unsafe foods list. Those teeth do need to be trimmed. I downloaded and flipped the photo around to see it better. I couldn't see for sure if the top teeth were gone. But it sure looks like it. As for Patch, it could be any number of reasons. Only a vet could be sure. If you notice dry flaky skin you might want to put a little aloe gel, Omega 3 oil, or a bit of Sudocrem on it to relieve any itching. The food can be in there for 24 hours, although I tend to do fresh every 12 hours myself. Hope they do better.

Re: I'm concerned about...
Thanks DrKMcK. I'll just give him regular porridge instead of the fruity thing and tell my dad that Jinx needs to go get his teeth clipped, he was paid recently so shouldn't be a problem really. how much baby food should Jinx get a day? Patch's fur thing doesn't seem to bother him at all but I'm still concerned about it.

Re: I'm concerned about...
Maybe when you take Jinx to get his teeth clipped the vet can look at Patch too. Any time I give baby food. or porridge I let them eat what they want. Usually a 1/2 teaspoon or so. And they usuallu don't eat it all.

Re: I'm concerned about...
Thanks again DrKMcK, i really appreciate all the help. I think i'll monitor Patch tonight before deciding whether a vet trip is needed for him to as he's still eating + drinking + doing normal hamstery things so id hate to stress.him out unless needed. :3

Re: I'm concerned about...
Sorry for the double post i just wanted to say i'm so grateful to everone whos helped and im sosososo proud of Jinx. He's eaten nearly a whole teaspoon of baby food and i mashed up some p@h pellets (not his usual food).for him and he's kinda taken to it. I know changing his food is gonna be stressful on him but i couldnt mash the harry hamster up well so decided to try something else. :'3

It shouldn't bother him at all. All he knows is that he got this great baby food!
