Default Poorly Bridget

Please can someone help? My syrian Bridget is not looking good, she smells musky, is hunched over, panting and her fur is fluffed. She looks the same as my other syrian Phoebe did a few weeks before she died. She's pacing around her cage and keeps stopping and panting.

My boyfriend said I should leave her be and go get on with my day, but I hate to leave her even though I feel like there's nothing I can do! Is there anything I can do to help her?! She's been sorting through some food a little bit too this morning, also she is very nearly two years old.

Any advice will be much appreciated! I just want to do what is best for my girl.

EDIT: Just checked her again and she appears to be sleeping in the corner of her cage. Going to pop out and do what I need to do but will check her again when I am back

It really sounds as though she needs a vet check, I don't think we can guess what the problem is but she really doesn't sound well at all. She is a good age now so it could be age related I really wouldn't wait though but go to the vet as soon as you can.

I agree with cypher here. At her age illness can move swiftly in these small furries. A vet could tell you if this is something that an antibiotic could clear up or if it is something more serious. In any event, you have a sick nearly 2 year old furry friend who needs you to help her. A vet visit can do that. I do hope things go well for her and you.

Sorry to hear Bridget's unwell. A vet will be able to advise you. That's the thing about aging hamsters, they go from being so active one minute and slow the next.
It'll also put your mind at ease.

Thankyou all. We are unable to get to our vets tonight without driving to a different vets over an hour away, which I don't want to put her through in her current state. She's booked into our local vets tomorrow morning, for now she is comfortably sleeping in her bed.

Thankyou for your well wishes. Took her to the vets this morning, and typical she looked right as rain!! :P He said her chest is a little wheezy and gave her an injection which should either cure her or not.

The only thing I am now worried about is that she can't reach her water. I have the savic hamster heaven cage so the water has to go on the higher shelf, which I doubt she is likely to climb on much. Tried to offer her the bottle this morning when I got her out but she wasn't interested :S Anyone else had the same problem and has any suggestions?

Glad to hear the vet's had a look at her, hopefully the injection will do the trick & she'll soon be fine.
The problem with the water bottle really depends on how you have your cage set up but can't you just attach it really low down? Even if you have to put it on the door, maybe with plenty of substrate there so she can reach it easily.

Glad the vet visit went well.
As for the bottle, I think it would be best to try and connect it to the door like cypher suggested.
I hope Bridget's feeling better real soon!
