I hope this isn't a silly suggestion, but could you just plug an electric heater on in the room? I know electric heating is expensive but if it's only for a few days - and those halogen heaters are cheap to run and do a good job. We've got an oil fire radiator in the room where Charlie is, for when the heating is off. Even a fan heater or hair dryer left on would do it if you don't have an electric heater (surprising how quickly a hot hairdryer can heat a room if left on).

Hi Dave,
When I said put all the hammies together, I meant all their cages next to each other lol!
That would be a hammie disaster and a lot of fighting!
Love Brain girl's idea!
You're doing a great job Dave, we all know that you love your hammies and doing anything and everything to ensure they stay warm.

Oh yeah! When we had a heating problem I went out and got an oil-filled electric radiator. Relatively efficient for electric heat and gives off a lovely, even heat

I agree here with serendipity and braingirl about using an electric heater. The oil filled radiators are very
effective and not that expensive to run for a couple of days while you get your boiler fixed.

Sorry for not posting but i was really busy, please forgive me

So my dad got some oil filled heaters which are not big, and didn't heat the house too well but they did something. Electric heaters wouldn't work (as i said before) the whole house is powered by oil, including electricity. The part arrived today afternoon so when my dad gets home (on his way back from Glasgow where he was delivering a car to his client) which will be bout 12pm, he will fit this in. Hopefully it will work. Fingers crossed

The oil filled radiators aren't big, but it depends how big your home and rooms are and how quickly they fill with heat.
I've got high ceilings and bay windows in mine but, I always change my curtains over in the late autumn to my thermal lined with my blinds. You live join the highlands in bonnie Scotland and they always get low temperatures.
So is your heating fixed and working again?

Yep, fortunately the heating is back on. My dad fixed it this morning The temp is back to normal now.

My house is quite big. My dad bought it quite cheaply as it was in need of some TLC. But it's all sorted now, just some bits in the garden. It's a farmhouse so it's old.
