Robovoski loosing fur?
Hi guys, sorry yet another question!
Right my robo is 18 months old, so shes not old, she eats fresh veg every day and is very very active, she is loosing fur quite rapidly. I took her to the vets and she got treated for mites, twice but there was no improvement...i have pictures of her skin on request. She gets better and then gets worse, then better again. I have been told by the breeder that her mother is exactly the same (and i saw her and she is), does any one know what this could possibly be? And how do i fix it? Im very worried that it could get really bad one day and i could loose her...

Re: Robovoski loosing fur?
if its hereditary could it by a problem with vitamin B
B vitamins are essential for the normal formation of red blood cells or the haemoglobin (iron-containing) portion of red blood cells.
A deficiency in most B vitamins can lead to tiredness, weakness, and fur loss
Vitamin B-1: leads to weakness and fatigue.
B-6: hair / fur loss and muscular weakness.
Inositol: Is also a member of the B group, this is vital for fur growth. In laboratory trails recently animals that lacked Inositol in the diet produced fur loss (baldness) but when the vitamin was again added to the food of these animals the fur grew back.
Inositol: May be found in bananas, brown rice, oat flakes, vegetables, wheat germ, nuts, If the inositol intake is not sufficient symptoms such as fur loss and skin problems can arise.

Re: Robovoski loosing fur?
Hi Dee, older hamsters are prone to mites as they age and you find they come and go.
My hamster is a syrian and just over 18 months, he's now in his second treatment for underskin mites at the vet and I have been told that I might have to do the Spot On Treatment weekly.
Then first dose he was getting 3 injections over 3 weeks, this time round it's not as bad.

Re: Robovoski loosing fur?
I'd agree with POLAR WHITES suggestions but you could also try something like this for both fur, skin & general health, just put a drop on food or give it on a spoon, they generally enjoy it so not hard to use!
