Bleeding from penis

Hi,
Í have a syrian hamster. He's 7 months old..When i woke up this morning i found blood in his cage. I was observing every move he made. He started walking and eating like nothing happend. When he went back to his tube he started grooming himself and then i saw a lot of blood coming out of his penis. he licked every drop of it. i called the vet right a way, they told me it might be an infection to keep him hydrated and if he keeps bleeding to bring him to the vet tomorrow. He didn't drink any water today, so i gave him a piece of apple. He's sleeping now and didn't bleed anymore.
I'm feeling very hopeless, what else should i do? i don't know if he's in pain or what might be the cause of the infection.

It sounds like it would be best to take him in and have things checked out anyway. It will give you peace of mind and if he has an infection you can get some meds. Check his nails as well in case he has scratched himself underneath when grooming and made a cut.

He might have caught it on something in his cage. Hope he's OK.
I noticed you posted this on Sunday, did you get to the vet today Monday?
If so what did the vet say?

Our hamster had what seemed like blood in his wee. We put very diluted cranberry juice in his water bottle, and lots of watery food like cucumbers. Also told to give dandelion leaves. After a few days he was back to normal.
