Default different poo

Hi. Firstly sorry if posting something already asked. I've had a look through other posts but can't find exactly the same. We've had a hamster for about 6 months. He's been fine until last couple of weeks. He seems happy and healthy but in the last couple of weeks his poos turned big and squishy. I cleaned his cage thoroughly last night. This morning there is couple of squished poos but also very tiny, rock hard poos. He seems to be drinking more lately but we've stayed away from fresh food for a while. I don't understand how he can do a mixture of poos all in the same night and how to sort it. Thank you

Is he a Syrian or a dwarf? Do you find his squishy poos in a different spot from the hard ones? I'm just wondering if it's possible that the squishy ones are sitting in urine or some drips from his water bottle and soaking it up. Have you tested his bottle to be sure it's working fine and that it's not leaking?

BrainGirl does have a point, he could well be peeing on some of his poo, fun aren't they!
What are you feeding him & have you changed his food recently?
If he's healthy otherwise & doesn't actually have diarrhoea I wouldn't cut out fresh veg completely, maybe just give a little & see how it goes, giving a few flax seeds can sometimes help get them back to normal too.

He is a Syrian. I know it's not where he wees or water bottle drips as we get him out every evening and we can see him doing the poos. He does seem to be doing less poo in the last couple of days but is still drinking lots. We did start mixing his food with some my cousin gave me, but we started that about a month ago so would have thought if it was that it would have affected him sooner.
