Question Itchy but no mites?

My female syrian is about ten weeks old, and for the past two days been quite itchy- I've inspected her fur with magnifying glasses, with flashlights, pretty much every way plus upside down, but I can't find any signs of mites. She hasn't seemed to develop any sore spots or anything yet, so there are no wounds to worry about- I'm just stumped. Does anyone have personal experience/advice?

Are you sure it's not part of her normal grooming? When I first got Penny I thought she was really itchy, then learned it was just part of her grooming- licking her foot, then scratching her fur.

If she has no fur loss/soreness then it's probably nothing, just her normal grooming. As she is young and quite new to her cage, she may groom more to get her scent around and show it's her territory

I thought this as I first got my adopted hamster Leeroy but I soon discovered it was just him grooming all the time.

Hopefully, as there aren't any signs of mites, fur loss etc that it's just part of her normal routine. Sorry for the basic question as I'm sure you've already got one already but does she have a sand bath?

Like the others said, they scratch as part of their grooming routine... And Syrians like to groom a LOT

Unless they start getting bald spots or red irritated patches, it's nothing to worry about

She doesn't have a sand bath yet, but I should be putting one in within the next few days.
