Default Dry Skin - Advice please!

I noticed yesterday that Domino appears to have quite dry skin under his thinning fur. It looks white and flaky. According to some research I have done to improve this you can give a few drops of cod liver oil over the food.

Can anyone confirm whether it is safe to do so for a hamster and whether it does help? Alternative ideas also welcome, thank you!

Cod liver oil is suitable and safe to use. I used to give some to a ham with thinning fur as well as brewers yeast. Seemed to help

Does he have a sand bath? If so, I'd take it out as it can dry their skin out.

Thanks for your speedy reply!

That's great, I shall get him some asap. What benefits does the yeast have and in what quantity/regularity should he be given it?

He does have a sandbath, though he doesn't ever roll in it, would this affect his skin on his back even so?

The yeast was to help with fur growth, I can't remember how much I gave but I'll try and find the thread about it. It was a while ago now.

It could still affect the skin on his back I think, just by being kicked/flung about when/if he digs in it. Would be worth removing it just in case though.

Ok I will remove the sand, hopefully it will help.
