Exclamation One weeping, bulging eye...

My Russian Dwarf hamster, Nina, has a weeping, bulging left eye. She's my first hamster and I've had her for less than a month. She's six months old, I use Carefresh bedding, feed her hamster museli and she grinds her teeth down on a foodie chewy thing.

I have a vet appointment for her at 5pm. I was just wondering if anyone could offer any suggestions as to what the vet might say? 5pm was the earliest appointment I could get so I am waiting very nervously the moment!

Did you get her to the vet? I am not sure about this one but I really hope she gets to feeling better.

Cysts and stys seem to happen to hammies, among the less critical health care things. Here's hoping a bit of creme fixes that swollen eye right up. Many times , like people, they get lil health issues. Let us know what the vet says.\

Potentially the early onset of glaucoma? Or on a less annoying note, maybe your hammy has developed allergies?

Thumbs up Re: One weeping, bulging eye...

The first (emergency) vet didn't even show up. Not impressed. I've just returned from 'Vets4pets' and the guy said she's just had a bump! Probably from swinging from the roof of her tank. They gave me a couple of ml of medicine that I'm supposed to be giving to her through a syringe or in her water (definitely going with the latter!). She's perked up a bit but still hasn't used her wheel. She should be back to normal soon though

Thanks for all the help! Means a lot!
