Default Sqeaking/snuffling/clicking coming from my little Gimli...

Hey everyone (:

So my little hybrid dwarf, Gimli, lives on her own and I've noticed her making these very quiet sounds. I noticed it afew days ago but wasn't too sure who/what it was as I have three hams in my room (all in seperate cages). But today when it was time to clean out all their cages I got to her and realised it was her making the sounds.

I'm not sure exactly what to call it but it's very very quiet. It's a sort of squeaking/snuffling/clicking sound. She doesn't do it continuously but she does do it a lot, for about 1/2 minutes ago an I noticed her do it 3 times within 15 minutes.

I'm only worried as I've heard things like this can be respitory problems? Should I be worried or am I just too over protective? Haha!

Sorry I ask I so many worried questions all the time haha I just get so paranoid about my little babies!

Thanks a lot in advance (:

Have you changed bedding types at all? What kind of bedding do you use?

I've always used the same stuff; wood shavings by Snowflake, Pets at Home own bedding and I also shred up toilet paper and add that in too, tho the toilet paper I buy isn't always the same brand!

Snowflake wood shavings are meant to be very good quality- some of best here in the UK (they are dust exacted etc). I believe that they are pine, but I think that they have kiln dried

It sounds like it might be a mild respiratory infection?

Ah ok I'm not familiar with the brand. Pine isn't great for hams though.

I might be completely wrong (I don't use wood shavings) but I thought that if they were kiln dried it removed the harmful oils in the soft wood shavings? Or is that not right?

I'm not sure, you could be right. I only use aspen just in case.

One of my hams squeaks, but if you're worried a vet checkup won't hurt. Can you try to get a clip of the sound?

Yes I will do my best to get a clip and upload it! I'm not sure what the wood is, on the back it says "softwood timber" but nothing else, tho it does state that it is dust extracted so I'm not sure!

What other ideas are there for bedding ect? Incase that is the problem, if it persists I shall take her to the vet to get her checked. Tho that will be tricky she's quick as lightening and I'm still working on taming her!

I know a lot of people in the UK use fitch. Coffee makes weird noises too but he's an elderly fella already.
