Sick ham...any thoughts about these symptoms?
I know its been ages since I posted. Life has been busy but I would appreciate your thoughts...
JJ wasn't looking well so I just brought her to the vet. She is staying overnight. Her visible symptoms were excessive drinking, lost weight, red poop that was clumping on her butt, and walking with her back hunched. What do u think those symptoms might mean? I know I really have to wait for test results and xrays. Thx for your time.

I'm sorry that I can't help you regarding JJ's symptoms. I know it's really hard while you're waiting to hear the results of tests. I hope that JJ is ok x.

Re: Sick ham...any thoughts about these symptoms?
Hi. Your hamster is in the best place right now if he is staying at the vets to be monitored and treated. Hunching, clumping at the rear end with poo or urine and weight loss could be a number of things, but likely infection or a failure internally through disease. Your vet will probably treat with antibiotics and fluids and see if JJ shows any recovery. Please update on JJ and I really hope he pulls through. x

You can't really tell but hunching is a sign of abdominal pain. She's in the best place and hopefully the vets will be able to help her xx

Re: Sick ham...any thoughts about these symptoms?
Thx guys for your kind thoughts. Like you said I'll just have to be patient. The important thing is to either heal her if possible or reduce or her discomfort and pain. She was still very much active and alert when I brought her in and looking for her treats. It's always about the food lol. Whatever the prob may be Jj still has her priorities in the right order!!!

Re: Sick ham...any thoughts about these symptoms?
Heard from the vet. Xrays show there is a mass In JJ's tummy and the vet feels it probably is cancerous. Right now JJ is still at the vet on antibiotics and other stuff for her infected bottom but she is eating, active and alert. I will pick JJ up after work tomorrow. JJ is now about 1.5. She has brought myself and my students a lot of joy. At this point I will pray for the best and enjoy whatever remaining time she has.
