Default What do I do??? syrian hamster

Ok I apologies for not being on for so long, thing is we only using one laptop between us four pffttt. im barely on.
I dont know if you remember we got lucky. We still got him but im afraid there something wrong now.
I just wanna get some idea before i fork out a fortune at the vet.
Lucky will be two years old in February. He had been fabulous hamster. but now i got some concerned about him about last summer had had lost furs but he grew them back whether that was so hot weathers or rubbing them against the cage but he was fine himself no problem he grew all his furs back.
Now tonight we heard got him out i have notice that he look sleepy while drinking, he drinking hell of lots of waters, erm also he got on his face around the eyes look like it redness / soreness his furs is all scruffy not like nice shining coat i dont know if this is the sign of old age or is there some treatment that i could buy. I really dont want to take him to the vet for fear of stressing him out and it is bit of drive .
he is eating and drinking but he hadnt been on the wheel like he normally does.
last week he was going mad crazy and now he seem so calm and gentle.
I hope u can help???

Is there any way you could post a picture of what this soreness looks like?
It could just be him aging, my oldest hamster often sleepily wakes up for a drink and then go back to bed. If your hamster has long hair especially, he will lose it with age! My hamster is a LH but is more a cute furry scruffball than a LH now

It is very likely at 2 years old that you are seeing signs of aging. But the fact that he is drinking so much water could be something else like Cushing's disease. Only a vet could actually tell you for sure. I'd go for the vet. Hope Lucky's okay.

I've got an old girl who drinks loads. It's probably her kidneys failing from age
