Default Roborovsrki Hamster stopped eating and drinking

Hey All!

So I've not turned up anything concluesive searching the web so I'm coming to the hive mind here for advice:

I have a little female robo hamster who's stopped eating and drinking. She gave birth about a month ago and has been living with her babies (they all seem to be female as well in case it crosses your mind) but she has lost a ton of weight making me take a much closer look at her and I've seen no evidence of her eating food or treats.

We're taken steps to try and force her to drink and eat as a short term solution and have just removed her from her babies for a little r&r hoping that might get her into a more hungry mindset

but any advice would be great as to what to do here!

thanks

She is probably eating and drinking fine--or she wouldn't be with you anymore within a few days. But the stress of giving birth, plus providing nutrients for the babies for a long time, plus continued care and lack of sleep generally can make mothers lose a fair mount of weight. Eventually they regain it after a couple of months, so that seems normal. I've personally seen it happen with the mother of my 3 Campbell boys. Just give her some more time, and hopefully she will start picking up her lost weight soon.

I'd leave one of her girls with her for companionship.

Thanks for your advice, I let her have a little time to her self and she quickly regained her former sense of adventure (eating drinking and running everywhere in site to avoid being picked up)

so overall a little mummy's time seemed to do the trick... just needed someone else to look after the kids for an evening :P
