Re: My baby has cushings
It does not matter if she still sleeps 23 hours a day - as long as she is in no pain and loves coming out to you for cuddles and playtime - that is all that matters. Hope the little fluff has a long and pain free life. However as the cold weather is drawing in - you may have to keep her in warmer place and partially cover her cage with a towel to give her some extra warmth. Hugs to you both xxx

Re: My baby has cushings
I really hate Cushing's!!! I know she seems to be happy and not in pain, but it's just so rotten that any hammy gets this disease. I hope she stays active and loves her cuddles for a long time yet. Give her a pat for me.

Re: My baby has cushings
A little update on Pepper.
She is still with me and doing very well. Still has ball time, runs all over my couch and munches treats.
She has not lost anymore hair, nor gained any back. I don't really see any other loss of muscle or function in her. It's like everything has stopped. She even goes into heat still and squeaks at my boy syrian Popcorn!
I'm so excited that it seems like she'll be with me for a while still I did just buy some of her favorite treats for Christmas, don't tell her!

Re: My baby has cushings
I am glad to hear this update. This disease scares me a great deal, and you are handling it like a champion, much like your little Pepper

Re: My baby has cushings
Glad she is still active and happy. It's so unfair that some hamsters have to go through this.

Glad she is still happy. It's so sad to hear she's going through this, but I'm glad its stopped. As long as she isn't in pain, that's all that matters.

Re: My baby has cushings
A not so good update. Pepper is still with me, but is fading. Her body temperature is always cold and she wobbles a lot. She sleeps a lot more and her eyes are only partly open. I do believe that she had a stroke or something because she had some head tilting for a short while. I have been feeding her some baby food as well as her seeds which she cleans off the spoon every night. I took out her wheel so she can't hurt herself (her cage is all one level) and scatter feed her seeds by her nest so she doesn't have to lean over the bowl. Poor munchkin is a year and 8 months old.
