Default How much should a hamster drink a day

Idk if I’m being a paranoid hamster parent but I think my Cow has been drinking a lot

I caught her drinking from her bottle 4 times in one night within about 3 hours. She doesn’t stay at the bottle a very long time, maybe like 5-20 seconds each time. She’s also running on her wheel a lot at night, so maybe she’s thirsty from running. Also she never wakes up to drink water during the daytime. Only night.

She’s eating and playing just fine. She is full of energy

Her bottle isn’t obstructed I don’t think. I give it a test squeeze several times a day

from my experience that's completely normal. as long as u tap the spout and water comes out easily, and she's not acting strange in any way, I really don't think you have any reason to worry. Although there's no way to know for sure, from observing my hamsters, sometimes I feel like they're just drinking for the fun of it and not necessarily because they really need water every time. I think it can be a fun toy, to lick this funny metal tube in your cage and suddenly water comes out! and even if she is really drinking for the water, 4 times within 3 hours is really very normal.

That sounds normal to me too as if she is running and maybe you have your heating on now she will drink that frequently. Check the bottle is flowing freely when you touch it and she hasn't been spout chewing out of a habit. You can also give a small bowl as a back up in case of bottle failure.
