Default A wet nose:

Hi.

Pomegranate my syrian has a wet nose but otherwise is in perfect health, she doesn't sneeze so I don't think its a cold.

It might be an allergy, if you think so then can anyone tell me what are the other symptoms of an allergy just so I can check.

She is on aspen wood shavings so it's possible she's developed an allergy to her bedding. I'm pretty sure her nose has been wet the whole time i've had her (3 months)

Anyway, I don't think its anything too serious as otherwise she's completely bright and healthy, but I'd just like to no whether I need to make some changes to her housing.

Thanks and I hope someone can help.

ThePuzzledHamster.

Is it constantly wet or is she maybe just having difficulties with her water source?

How wet? Can you actually see a big fat drop dropping off her nose or is it just slightly damp when she snuffles you? If it's just a little damp, then this is normal.

If her nose is actually running, you would want to watch out for discolouration. It should be clear and colourless; if it starts to turn yellowish or slight greenish, or thick and milky in consistency, you will want to take her to the vet.

But, just a nice, clear damp nose is nothing to be worried about.

Her nose isn't really wet just slightly damp and its clear.
So it sounds like she's totally healthy.
Thanks!

Yep, in that case she sounds fine.

I love little wet hammy noses, especially when they give you a little kiss. ^^
