Default Purdy is Wheezing! :(

Poor little Purdy is poorly!

Went into the kitchen this morning (she is in our dining room bit still in quarrantine) and I could hear her wheezing as soon as I came down!

I took her out for a cuddle, and she is fine in herself, no runny nose or eyes, and she has been eating/drinking normally, it is just this funny noise as she breathes.

She had a cuddle for about 10 minutes, then she spluttered and the noise has stopped.

I always believe going on my gut feeling with these things, and i'm not happy, so I have made an appointment with the vet for 2.20pm this afternoon. I would rather go and be told that she is fine and I am overreacting, than miss something.

I love her so much already, and we have only had her for 3 weeks.

Please keep everything crossed for us!

Aw Louby, poor Purdy. I think you are wise to take her to the vet and keep her quarentined. A course of Baytril might be needed.

Hi guys!

Were back and the vet has given us the old favourite...Baytril!

She listened to Purdys chest, and gave her a good check over. She even commented how lovely and tame that she is..YAY!

Anyway...the verdict. She couldn't be certain that she had something wrong, as she looks well in herself, it was just the wheezing that gave concern, and that had gone. Anyway, she said we could choose whether to leave it, or whether to get some Baytril and give it to her 'IF' she starts wheezing again. We decided to do that, so we have some just incase. Hopefully, we won't need it though. Maybe she just sniffed something up the wrong way?

Anyway...I am now happy that she has been seen by someone who knows what they are doing. Thank goodness for Vets eh! The trip there and the money were worth it for piece of mind anyday!

Thankyou for all your good luck wishes

All sounds good then! I hope you don't need it in the end.

Don't know if this helps anyone at all, but when giving baytril to my rats i was unable to inject it straight into their mouths and it ended up everywhere (but the mouth). Instead I now mix it on a spoon with some flavoured yoghurt or creamed rice and let them lick it off. This can sometimes takea while as I wont let them go until it's all gone, even if it means they have to spend time in the carrier.
