Lots of blood on karlie bogie wonderland wheel!!

OK! so, this morning I noticed lots of red dots on my karlie bogie wonderland wooden wheel! I cannot yet hold my hamster to check his paws for splinters as he is still very young and not tame yet; so I put him in his ball and looked at his paws from underneath and they look very red and sore!

The thing that confuses me is there is no blood paw prints anywhere to be seen, which I would have thought there would be?
He is eating fine and cleaning himself and doing his normal things? I have temporarily put his old flying saucer in!

P.S I have about a 4 month old syrian

I don tknow, Im not a vet so don't take my word for it, its just my guess as it looks like too much blood for a splinter, and it looks sprayed out. it might not be pee, so don't panic.
do you have any toys with red colouring on>

no absolutely nothing, I made the cage with natural looking things for a nature theme. I am just really confused that there is no sign at all of any blood in the rest of the cage :/

also, he is almost all white, and there is no blood on him at all

that's really confusing :S I guess it could of been a bad splinter but I find it hard to belive that as theres so much blood and theres no paw prints, or blood anywhere else

exactly why I am so confused!

he is acting normal as well, eating well, drinking, cleaning himself, this is so strange! no limping either

well as I said, I have put his old flying saucer in so he can do some exercise tonight, I guess I don't need to take him to the vet unless any more problems occur? I might buy a new wheel also...
