Unhappy Minnie's Eye!

I went to get Minnie out for a cuddle and some ball time like I usually do, she'd already been out this evening (she was absolutely fine then) and seemed fine until I went to pick her up. She then darted away from me and I realised that one of her eyes looked a bit swollen and was totally shut. I completely panicked, burst into tears and called my dad because at that point I though she might have pulled her eye out or something awful like that. Eventually I realised that she hadn't pulled her eye out but it looked very sore and swollen.
When she went back into her nest, her eye opened up again and she was grooming like mad... the eye still looked sore but there was no sign of any blood or anything.
Dad thinks that she's just scratched it on something and then the eye's natural reaction is to swell up, and I was wondering what you guys thought? Is it a massive emergency and I should try and find an emergency vet, something I should get looked at as soon as possible or something I should keep an eye on (no pun intended, I'm too worried for that) and take to the vets if it looks like it's getting infected?
Thanks so much for your help in advance!

EDIT: She seems to be fine now but I will keep a very close eye on her.

If her eye is looking sore but she can open it again, I would suggest a vet visit on monday rather than an emergency vet right now. I would keep an eye on it though of course. Does it look like there is something in it maybe? Poor Minnie

If she has gunk in the eye, you can wash it with a lukewarm saline solution. But otherwise I would see a vet on Monday like Shiny recommended.

I would just keep an eye on her HM and see how she is. If her eye is a little bulgy she will probably need to see a vet just to confirm any injury or infection. If the eye goes to it`s normal size or it`s weepy, the warm water on a cotton ball/pad will be fine to wipe over gently and clean it, but only if you feel that`s necessary. Sometimes it`s best to leave well alone and monitor her until she can be seen. Try not to worry. x

She seems to be fine now, both eyes are open fully and she doesn't seem to be in too much pain but I'll keep a close eye on her and Dad has put some money by the phone for a potential vet visit (in case he was out at work and I needed to take her in a hurry). I think she might have poked herself in her eye with her waterbottle as it (the waterbottle) had been pushed to a funny angle.
Oh Minnie monster, you gave me a fright!

Hope she`s fine today, but have a good look at here eye with a magnifying glass if you have one. This helps to enlarge what your looking at. Hope the vet visit isn`t necessary, but if her eye is giving you any concerns, probably best to have it checked over. x
