Or, you could buy a big bag of childrens playsand from Argos for £3 and just dry it out it works as a charm and cost next to nothing for the amount you get also when you get the sand you don't need to change it fully just pour the dirty sand into a sieve and all the clean sand with run through leaving the food, poo and wee ect. in the sieve!!!

Sam, my Chinese has got urine in his fur before - not from urinating whilst running, but by peeing all over his flying saucer then later going for a run on it, sending pee flying all over the place. Nice!

Just to add - children's play sand - while great for toilets or playing etc - doesn't actually clean hams in the same way as chinchilla sand does as it doesn't absorb the oils from their fur.

We use play sand, but give a chinchilla sand bath once a month or so.

You can get chinchilla sand (dust free) from petsupermarket online for about £2.80 with free delivery, just bought mine some not so long ago from there and it's great they love it and for the amount and price you get, you cant go wrong! Keeps all my hammies lovely and clean.
