That sounds like normal behavior to me. Just let him be for a couple days to adjust to his new surroundings.

Don't worry if your hamster lazies about! My hamster is a year and 6 months old and sometimes he likes to sleep all day and all night! I'm sure he will get used to his surrondings...he should've done by now! Maybe you could teach him to come out for treats with a signal or noise and it may get him out more, but only use the noise or signal for treats as if you use it to actually get him out of his cage, he wouldn't be too happy!

How is your baby settling in now Speel? More active at nights? Are you getting much playtime together?

Your new ham was probably just tired from all the excitment. When I bought my first hamster since having one in childhood we had an hour drive home and she chewed her way out of the box and was walking around on my lap, eventually we had to pull over to the side of the road get the cage from the back of the car and set it up on the back seat and put her in it lol.

They usually just need time to settle in, it is a few days normally before you really start to see their personalities come out. It's best to let your hamster rest a day or two anyway so as not to stress them out, but keep us posted!
