I'm so sorry to hear he passed so soon
I feel it was mostly have been something neurological as he showed no other signs. There was nothing that could be done, but he didn't suffer and he is now at peace.

Cathii, I'm sorry to read about your hamster Salt and I agree with kyrilliondaemon, you might want to look into a new vet that has experience/more experience with hamsters, for dear Pepper.

At least Salt is no longer suffering and playing happily with all the other hammies at the Bridge.
