Testicles *pics included**

I'm not unfamiliar to hamsters, had quite a few of them but since most were female I wanted to double check that everything is ok with my almost year old Syrian, Jonathan.

I'm well aware that male hamsters have... well, massive balls and Jonathan is no different, However today I notices that they seem to be sticking out a fair bit more than usual.

He is still really active and running about, doesn't seem to be unhappy or unwell and is eating and drinking normally so I think it may just be the heat.

Coming from Scotland usually it is near freezing however the past few days it has been around 23 degrees so I think its most probably just him trying to cool down, but I thought I would double check here.

If anyone has any advice that would be great vet isn't open til tomorrow so any info at all would be great before I take him.

It is just the heat - they look perfectly fine to me. He looks like a very handsome young man there
The testicles are quite mobile in the scrotum and can look very odd sometimes the way they push out! It's always good to be aware what is normal because there is always the chance of a torsion, infection, tumour or hernia but the hamster is in some pain with these and the testicles look markedly different from normal.

Hi, totally agree with souffle! I've mainly always had male hamster and they have a huge testicle to body ratio (the winner being the rat)!! Like Souffle says its good that you could see a difference immediately but their testicles are more promintent probably due to the heat. One of my hammies "Podge" who is playing at the bridge now had the most enormous ones!!
I think he looks fine from the back end!

That is one healthy looking male ham!

My friend's Syrian's testicles have a habit of slowly popping out if he gets handled for a long time because of the warmth from our hands and legs. It's nothing to worry about

haha thats good, I'm relieved, He seems fine I think he's just not used to this heat, neither am I to be honest.
He came out of his wee house last night all sweaty had to give him a wee clean and dry, he looked so cute though.

I will be sure to let him know how handsome he is, although it may go to his head he is a bit of a spoiled diva sometimes.

Oh thats great I was worried about him for a while but as he was still running about as normal I thought it was probably just the change in temperature. Hes seems happy and fine and doing everything as usual apart from sticking his balls out haha.

Yes ive notice my felix's testicles are massive hes 11 weeks old and just seemed to appear from nowhere lol

Mine always has his out when he sleeps or when were holding him so yeah just the warmth like everyone is said. Its funny when my friends see him they can't believe the size of them compared to his body haha

haha I know I was a bit shocked, My mum nearly choked when I showed her the picture of them.
Actually I think he is quite proud of them so maybe wouldn't mind me showing them off haha.
I think he is enjoying the heat we are having at the moment, he has tonight for some reason moved all the sawdust from one end of the cage to the other in a big pile, I'm not sure why, he is a strange wee thing x
