Default How could she have done this?

So I didn't get Buttons out last night (the one day a week I don't as I am at my OHs) and I got her out tonight and noticed these :

I totally freaked! I have checked all her cage and can't see ANYTHING sharp. The only two things I can think is :
Sand Bath
Her wrecking the grass mat?

I am really worrying!
They seem to be healing so I thought it's best to leave them?

Her cage :
Can you see anything ?
(I have covered the wrecked corner now)

By the way I did remove the mineral block from her wheel, that's from her trashing her cage in protest of not coming out for one night a week

Could she have somehow caught her feet in any holes youve made in the box?

How strange! They look to be caused by rubbing as they are so symetrical, so my first suspicion would be the wheel?

It's her back feet so I wouldn't imagine so? It would mean her lifting herself complety up. Although I hadn't thought of that. Will definitely keep an eye on her
Don't think I will be sleeping much =(
They do look quite healed though.
I thought the wheel! But it's plastic silent spinner and no blood + wouldn't it therefore be on her feet and not heals?
I am so confused and worried! :/

I was completely and utterly stumped, but a plausible long-shot from my partner...
She moved her mineral block to the wheel right? And its ice-cream so can roll?
Its unlikely but the only guess either of us has, so I'll say it. Theres a very, very slim chance she's a very silly ham and decided to move the block to the wheel, then ran anyway with it behind her. No ham'd be daft enough to run towards it (they'd fail) but with it behind her it'd roll towards her back legs and potentially hit that part of her feet enough to cause the cuts. Some hams are daft enough to ignore pain when running so theres a slim chance it was just a freak chance and that happened.
It'd explain why both heels got it, and why they're so alike and only on the one place.

I'd leave the cuts to it since they seem to be healing. Just keep an eye on them and you'll (hopefully/probably) soon see that hams heal quickly

Not any little bit of exposed wire on the ladder? Is there any gaps she could have got her feet stuck down or slipped down, looks funny with them both being in the same place??

Poor Buttons, how are they looking now?

I have checked her ladder and all smooth and fine, I first thought that!
Well I took those pictures around an hour ago and I hadn't seen them before then, will be checking them in the morning if I get the chance (she isn't usually up - even at 6.45am!

doesn't seem bothered her at all! But I definitely am worrying like crazy. I was thinking though if it's something which she keeps doing it wouldn't be healing right? :/

Oh I hadn't thought of that! That is a possibility as it looks like it had been on for a while as the powder was on it.
That can go on her top level now! haha cheeky monkey. She might have even just pushed it off the edge. Hopefully your right and they will heal quickly =)

Is there anyway she could have mites or something? Wouldn't there also been some on the rest of her body?

If there was powder on the wheel then that supports the theory she's been running in the wheel with the chew slowly causing the cuts (the powder probably wouldn't have been there if the chew had just sat in the wheel). After hearing that I do definetly think that Alex's guess was right and the daft ham just joined the club of really, really silly rodents lol

Good plan moving it well out of the way, and I'm sure they will heal fast. Most hams do

(Oh and I know what those bridges are like and I really don't think she'd have managed the cuts on that, especially not with how symmetrical it all is, so yeah, I'd try and relax a bit and just keep the daft girls mineral block away from the wheel... Dopey hamster...)

I also really don't think thats mites. Fur loss is a sign as is more scratching and I doubt changes'd be symmetrical. (Plus the legs lack fur and most parasites prefer safer places to hide than the least-furry, most-open places.)

Thanks so much, your all amazing! I would have been up all night worrying but feel a lot better now. She is so silly! I hadn't even thought of that for some reason, sometimes you just need someone from the outside to look and they often see it =)

I now have a mad hamster (Wispa) purposely going too fast on her wheel and flying saucer so she falls off!! She may be the next one I am worrying about! haha

Thanks again to everyone and please thank Alex for me!!
