Default Sleep positions

Hopefully you're all going to think I'm mad but I've only recently lost one hamster so I'm on tender hooks not to let the same happen to this one.

I've noticed that she sometimes sleeps with her head outside of her nest just resting on a ledge (just next to her left paw on the attached pic). Normally hamsters just snuggle up in a ball don't they?

Smudge has a Hamster Heaven cage and has chosen to sleep in the little penthouse on top of the cage so I can see her. Maybe I'm worrying about nothing but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Does anyone else's hamster do this?

Thanks

Greyjoy will lay flat and hang his head out of his wheel and fall asleep! I think they are as different as people and sleep however they feel comfortable.

She might be a tad hot in that penthouse? Hence why she has her head out to stay cool.

But hamsters can be so random when they sleep x

She's probably fine Gloria always went through phases with sleeping positions, but in warmer weather instead of building herself a nest and curling in a ball, she'd build herself a curvy area with a mound to put her chin on top of! It was cute to watch her sprawled out and uncovered

I think we all worry a bit too much sometimes. I remember when Gloria would even fall asleep with her face up against my fingers when I held her, like nose and buck teeth pushed up against me firmly, that made me a bit nervous though because I worried she wouldn't be able to breathe well.
